Pine beetle gaining ground in Southwest Colorado

In 2012, the roundheaded pine beetle infestation in the Glade area, shown in red, was at about 492 acres.
By 2017, the roundheaded pine beetle had infested or killed 10,584 acres of ponderosa forest, and began showing up in other areas of the San Juan National Forest.
