Colorado trout making a comeback in Hermosa's headwaters
With help from biologists, the Colorado cutthroat trout is making a comeback in the upper reaches of Hermosa Creek.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife aquatic biologist Jim White pours fingerling Cutthroat trout into a drainage at the upper reaches Hermosa Creek. The species has been re-established in 17 miles of the east fork and main stem of the headwaters of Hermosa Creek. When the restoration project is complete, the fish will occupy 23 miles of creek upstream from the confluence of the east fork and the main stem.
