Zuni fetishes highlight ancient culture

Provocative artwork a hit worldwide
The five Corn Maidens in this Zuni fetish were carved from scallop shell by Stuart Quandelacy. The figure is 5 3/8 inches tall, inset with a sun face, five stars and four dragonflies.
This cluster of Zuni fetish carvings of the six directional animals were created by artist Jayne Quam. The yellow mountain lion represents north, the blue bear west, the multi-colored eagle represents the above, the red badger south, white wolf east, and black mole is of the underworld.
