Illegal pot farms a problem in county and statewide

Over the limit. The Montezuma County Sheriff deputy has encountered numerous private marijuana grows that exceed legal limits. Growers are instructed to destroy enough plants to comply with Colorado law.
While on duty a Montezuma County Sheriff deputy noticed a marijuana garden that exceeded the legal limit on Road 41. The excess plants were destroyed and no charges were filed. Under Colorado law, an adult over age 21 can grow up to six marijuana plants for personal use.
On Aug. 27, San Miguel Sheriff deputies assisted the Colorado Bureau of Investigation with the search of a Wrights Mesa property outside Norwood where there was allegedly a significantly large, illegal, marijuana grow operation.
