Boosting Olympic dreams

Durango fundraiser supports local Nordic athletes
Biathlete Lanny Barnes talks with supporters at a Nov. 8 benefit for her, twin sister and fellow biathlete Tracy Barnes and cross-country skier Tad Elliott at the Durango Community Recreation Center. The fundraiser was to help the athletes with their bids to make the U.S. Olympic team.
“It’d be cool to be a part of the Olympics,” says Tad Elliott. “My dad’s been three times. I’d like to keep the family tradition and go.”
“We’re extremely proud to be able to represent Durango,” says Lanny Barnes, right, who makes the rounds with her sister, Tracy, at last week’s fundraiser.
