The Colorado Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday that Carolyn Linsey will serve as general counsel to Colorado Mesa University and Fort Lewis College.
Linsey will be based in Durango and will be the first senior assistant attorney general to work primarily on the Western Slope, according to a news release.
“Linsey will provide expert legal advice to Colorado Mesa University and Fort Lewis College, and both contribute to and learn from those communities that she serves,” said Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser in a written statement. “She brings a very strong background to this position and will be a strong partner to both the office and the Western Slope.”
Weiser appointed Linsey to the position and expects she will spend time on both campuses.
As a member of the Higher Education Unit of the Attorney General’s Office, she will represent both schools on issues such as board governance; open meetings; open records; rule and policy drafting; and federal regulatory compliance, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and Title IX.
Linsey recently served as general counsel to the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
She holds a Master of Law from New York University School of Law and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
