Karla, of Karla's Kitchen fame, told me this week that she plans to begin serving dinner, in addition to her yummy breakfasts and lunches. Starting Friday, March 1, she said, the restaurant on the east side of Dolores will stay open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

The book fair at the Dolores Elementary School put on by the PTA was a big success. Students had a great time picking out their new favorites.

It is hard to believe, but spring sports started this week. It is always a wonder how our baseball team practices when the field is still covered in snow, but coach Chris Barry said the team is practicing in the gym for now and the first four games are away games so it should give our home field enough time to dry out.

It is that time of year again - TEST time. Third-grade students at Dolores Elementary School are already taking the TCAP. Good luck everyone.

If you happen to see some firefighters taking a swim in the icy lake this weekend, don't worry, it's for our own safety. The Dolores Fire Department is expected to do ice-water rescue training this Friday and Saturday, so they all know what to do in case one of us falls in.
