Cortez firefighters demonstrate an extrication for foreign exchange students Wednesday afternoon. In 1998, a van carrying foreign exchange students from Los Angeles broke down in Cortez , they stopped in city hall and asked Linda Smith if they could take a picture with the mayor. Cortez is now an annual stop for AFS foreign exchange students and the fire department has added and overnight stay at the station with the firefighters cooking supper for them.
