Purg’s final countdown

‘Gaper Day’ closes the sking season, with a new Lift 8 on the way
Bryan Bagdol looks out from the top of Lift 8, aka, the Legends Lift, the higehst point at Purgatory. A new high-speed quad chair will be installed this summer, sweeping skiers 1,500 up the mountain in five minutes.
Adrian Nelson, Melissa Nichols, David Sanchez and Jared Sorenson were just “having fun in the sun,” skiing the terrain off of Lift 8 at Purgatory. “It’s Gaper Day, the last day of the year,” Nichols said of ski resorts’ annual tradition to dress up on the final day of the year. Purgatory, however, will open next weekend, honoring weekday passes, and Lift 8 will be operating for the final time.
