Daven Reinhardt is Ignacio's Adult Role Model for 2014.

The award, now in its third year, is sponsored by Celebrating Healthy Communities, which operates through San Juan Basin Health Department. It recognizes positive adult role models as one of the 40 developmental assets that help young people thrive and avoid high risk behaviors.

Pat Senecal with Celebrating Healthy Communities said that in a 2007 youth survey, only 28 percent of responders said they had a positive adult role model. "We felt that was an under-served area of the community," she said.

Youth in each community were asked to nominate adult role models. Cosio said 11 people nominated Reinhardt.
