Blondie’s and Dry Dock — now Addison’s — get facelifts
Addison’s has opened in the old Dry Dock space on Main Street in Cortez. From left are chef Carl Hawkinson, owner Stuart Stroud and manager Nikki Borders.
Desmond Calhoon has purchased Blondie’s and renamed it Blondie’s Trophy Room, a nod to the animal mounts now on the walls.

Incoming pizzeria adds option to ‘Restaurant Row’

The stretch of Main Street, between Market and Chestnut streets, is a magnet for food lovers. Home to popular restaurants like The Farm Bistro, Pepperhead, Stonefish Sushi & More and Once Upon a Sandwich, the block is a Cortez culinary hotspot.
But there’s always room for more. How about a little Italian?
This summer Sol Pizzeria will open in the Wilson Building, with a menu featuring sandwiches, pasta, salads, and naturally, pizza.
“At one time that space was Scott Tipton’s office. And then, to be fair and equal, it was the Obama re-election campaign office,” said Mitchell Toms, who owns the Wilson Building. “There’s a lot of good karma on that corner.”
Stonefish owner and chef Brandon Shubert is busy remodeling the space with two partners. They’re adding a new outdoor patio in the back, so customers can dine in the fresh air but away from Main Street traffic.
Shubert estimated a July opening.
