Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Big love sometimes comes in small packages. Timmy and Hindi are two of the 10 small-breed dogs received from the Albuquerque Shelter that are up for adoption at the Cortez Animal Shelter. Timmy is a male five-month-old white Chihuahua cross, and Hindi is a red Miniature Pinscher cross, a neutered four-year-old male. Also making the trip from Albuquerque, are Pancho, a very energetic longhair male Chihuahua mix, Jasmine, a female black-and-tan Miniature Pincher, a white and tan male Chihuahua named Spotty, and a black and tan male Chihuahua mix named Alonzo. Nico is a bigger male black Chihuahua cross with short legs, white on his chest and the biggest ears you've ever seen. It is hoped these sweeties will have a better chance at adoption here. The shelter also has some nice, loving cats, including a big, gorgeous seal point Siamese and an irresistible little orange tortoiseshell, plus several other dogs; all share a quest for a forever home. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays; they will be closed this Friday. The fee for adoption includes spaying or neutering, and vaccination. The shelter desperately needs donations of small breed dog food and they would love some new cat toys. They can also use non-clumping cat litter and cleaning supplies such as paper towels, dish soap and unscented bleach. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com or www.petango. com (enter 81321 zip code for each) or www.cityofcortez. com/government/animal_shelter.
