Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

“Willie” is a good boy ... who just had some bad luck. This gentle giant is a purebred Ragdoll, with cobalt blue eyes, an adorable face and distinctive beige and buff colorpoint markings. He is a young cat — 4 years-old — and finds himself at the shelter sadly due to his owner needing to give him up because of a family member’s serious health problem. He has already been fixed and vaccinated. Willie will need an owner who is willing to keep his long, silky coat brushed. Willie also has a relaxed personality and affectionate nature, and, in addition to these traits, this big sweetheart also likes to play — his big, blue eyes light up at the sight of a cat toy. He does well with older children and quiet dogs. One look at Willie, and you’ll want to take him home. The shelter also has irresistible kittens, another wonderful kitty who looks like a bobcat, and some sad dogs aching for a home. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays; they will be closed this Friday. The fee for adoption includes spaying or neutering, vaccination and microchipping. The shelter hopes for a gift of a good, used (and working) vacuum cleaner. They also need donations of non-clumping cat litter, Iams or Purina cat food, and cleaning supplies such as paper towels and unscented bleach. They would love to get some large size rawhides for the shelter dogs to work on. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com or www.petango. com (enter 81321 zip code for each) or www.cityofcortez. com/government/animal_shelter.
