Youth hunting opportunity

Young hunters in Southwest Colorado still have time to bag a wild turkey for the Thanksgiving table through the youth-only hunt unique to the region.



“We’re the only Colorado Parks and Wildlife area that allows people under 18 years old to hunt turkey after the season ends if they haven’t filled their tag,” Patt Dorsey the agency’s area wildlife manager in Durango, said Monday.

The youth-only season, which has been offered for a number of years, opened Nov. 17 and ends Sunday. Dorsey said.

The limit is one.
