Francis Henry Badding

Funeral Mass for longtime Dove Creek resident Francis Henry Badding will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 22 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Dove Creek. Interment will follow at Dove Creek Cemetery.

Visitation has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 21 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. A Rosary will follow the viewing at 7 p.m.

Francis was born on August 18, 1926 in Littleton, Colo. to Frank and Andriena (Ferrero) Badding. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the age of 86.

Francis married Betty Jo Fury on January 14, 1961 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Dove Creek. He loved to work, most especially ranching and working the ground. Francis enjoyed helping his neighbors with their animal’s veterinary needs. He loved spending time with his family and being in the mountains. Francis was a member or the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister.

Surviving Francis are his wife, Betty Badding of Dove Creek; his 10 children, Theresa Espinoza and husband, David of Mancos, Darla Hanstedt and husband, Michael of Durango, Francis Badding Jr. and wife, Jodi of Bloomfield, Paul Badding of Dove Creek, Angela Geisinger and husband, Wayne of Egnar, Christine Hudgens and husband, George of Hesperus, Jolene Badding of Durango, Cheryl Hanstedt and husband, Steve of Hesperus, Mark Badding of Dove Creek, and LaDonna Garrett and husband, Guy of Hesperus; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his siblings, Marie Guiles and Margaret Humann both of Thornton, Colo., Norbert Badding of Greeley, Colo., and Edward Badding of Cedaredge, Colo. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Andriena Badding; and his brothers, Joe and Sylvester Badding; and his sister, Genevieve Fury.
