Cliff Palace deterioration a major concern

A number of steps have been taken by the park staff to prevent damage caused by running water, including this small dam protecting this kiva.

“The lower portion of the southern half...is literally shearing or slipping down,” said Scott Travis, the head archaeologist at Mesa Verde National Park, who was referring to Cliff Palace. The southern half of Cliff Palace begins on the right.
