Funeral services for lifelong Shiprock, N.M. resident, Curley Jeli, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25 at the Four Corners Funeral Chapel in Cortez. Military honors will be presented by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Burial will follow in the Cortez Cemetery.
Curley Jeli was born on April 25, 1962, in Shiprock, the son of Jimmie and Lilly (Benally) Jelly. Curley passed away on July 21, 2012 at the age of 50.
Curley served our country first in the Army from 1980 through 1983. He was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Local Union #49. In his spare time he enjoyed all types of outdoor activities.
Curley was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Jelly.
Curley is survived by his mother, Lilly (Benally) Jelly of Shiprock; the mother of his children, Belinda Jenkins of Shiprock; his children, Celessta Merrill (Marriner) of Price, Utah, Yolanda Jeli (Leo Johnson) of Tucson, Ariz., Micheal Jeli of Shiprock, and Sherrell Jeli of Orem, Utah; his grandchildren, Naataanni Merrill of Price and Dane Johnson of Tucson; his brothers and sisters, Maxine Walters, Freda Nells, James Jeli, Nora Harrison and Harry Jeli, all of Shiprock; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Curley was in the care of Victoria Yazzie of Shiprock.
Arrangements are under the direction of Four Corners Funeral Chapel, Cortez.
