Leah Salt

Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident Leah Salt will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the Towaoc Recreation Center. Interment will follow at Towaoc Cemetery.

Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel.

Leah was born Oct. 20, 1917, to Joe Salt and Adelaide Burr. She passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at her residence at the age of 94.

As a young woman, Leah cared for the Byron and Mary Brown family in Mancos as a nanny. She took great pride in the love and service she provided them. She enjoyed sewing, beadwork, quilting, reading and cooking. Leah loved time spent with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother.

Surviving Leah are her daughter, Carol House (Jackie) of Towaoc; her grandchildren, Sonya Lefthand (Hank), Marcianne Wing (Eddie), Chad Hamlin (Etta), Charlotte Hamlin, Roger Wing, Sandy House, Ellen Gurule (Paul), and Greg Mills; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents; by her children, Ramona Wing and Gerald Wing; and by one brother and two sisters.
