Classic Country dances

The 55 and over Dance Club's Valentine dance was an impressive success, with well over 30 couples in attendance. Laughter and fun was had by all. Attendees enjoyed a special treat of homemade peach and banana ice cream, made and served by Mel Houx and Maxine Padersen. The classic country band, "Country Connection" played for the dance as they do each Thursday night. Special songs were sung by some of the dancers including Jack and Debbie Miller, Mel Houx, Lynne Belle Lewis, Earl Sievers, and Rita Pulcher who played a few tunes on the piano. The 55 and Over Dance Club, along with the "Country Connection" band, have a dance every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, 107 N. Chestnut in Cortez. This is a great opportunity to get out and get some exercise, make new friends or just sit back and listen to some good old classic country music. There is also a dance the first and third Saturday of each month at the American Legion, 320 Harrison St. in Cortez, starting at 7 p.m. with classic country dance music provided by the "Country Drifters" band. All are welcome at both venues.
