Away in the manger

Local believers bring Christmas story to life
WITH Temperatures close to zero degrees, the Lambson family bundled up to take first shift at the live nativity scene on Friday. From left, the actors are father Kevin and son Jonathan as wise men; son Zachary as Joseph; mother Celeste as Mary; and daughter Reina as a shepherd. The nativity has been a seasonal tradition at the local LDS church for a quarter-century.
Ears the Donkey, a veteran nativity performer, observes the scene Friday night. Owner Dave Mortensen says Ears is a social creature and enjoys interacting with fellow actors, especially children. The sheep, meanwhile, were donated by church members Brian and Kristi Lindsley.
