Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Big feet = big puppy! These two burly 8-week-old puppies had a really bad start in life. Found abandoned by the San Juan River when they were two weeks old, they were fostered at the shelter by a Labrador retriever mama who had lost her own litter. These Australian shepherd/Lab/Border Collie mix puppies will be big dogs when they grow up, and will weigh at least 60 pounds. The black fuzzy one is a male and has a medium-length coat, and the black, white and tan pup is a shorthaired female. They are very social, happy puppies, and at this age, get along with everyone and everything. These cuties will be very smart, and great family pets. They need committed owners who will be a lifelong friend. The shelter also has other dogs deserving of homes, and other loving, affectionate cats and adorable kittens. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays; they will be open next Friday. The adoption fee for pets includes spaying or neutering, vaccination and microchipping. The shelter needs donations of dog biscuits to keep their homeless dogs occupied, non-clumping cat litter, and cleaning supplies such as unscented bleach, dishwasher detergent and liquid dish soap. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
