Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Dark days mark the past for Jade, a sweet little black and white Border Collie/McNab mix. She was once a great working cattle dog until the terrible day she witnessed her running mate get killed in an attack by another dog. She was extremely traumatized by the experience, and fell into a depression — her working days were over. Jade is a sweet dog and will bond with the person who adopts her, and should go to a home with a female presence so she can form an attachment. She is submissive but, as a young dog (1-1/2 years old), will come out of her shell with time and patience. True to her breed, this little girl will become a very loyal companion — even if her herding days may be over. Jade has a lot of energy; she’s fast and smart, and would make a great agility dog or a running, hiking, or jogging companion. She needs someone’s help to put her bad memories behind her and begin her life again. She and the other lonely pets at the shelter really need understanding and a fresh start. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be open this Friday. The shelter needs donations of non-clumping cat litter, plain bleach, and soaps such as dry dishwasher soap, liquid laundry soap, and liquid dish soap. They also could really use some new hard dog toys for the shelter dogs to chew on. All pet adoptions at the shelter now include having the new addition to your family fixed and microchipped. Thanks go out to all the wonderful folks who responded to the plea for the two adult cats, Smokey and Mow Mow — they both found forever homes — as well as to those who always help the shelter out with their needs. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
