The Montezuma-Cortez High School Alumni Scholarship Board recently awarded their first scholarship to Amanda Chappell. Pictured above, from left to right, are members of the board with the scholarship recipient: Anne Brown, Patsy Cone, Amanda Chappell, Meghan Higman, Michelle Butler, and Ken Degener. The M-CHS Alumni Scholarship is the creation of a 2003 graduate of M-CHS. The scholarship fund will be self-sustaining and managed by ONWARD!, a community foundation in Montezuma County and will aim to disperse 5 percent of its value annually. The goal is to have this be a renewable scholarship for students.
