Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Short and shorter. These two little boys have been at the shelter a month. Please check out this sweet, older male Chihuahua; he’s buff and cream-colored, and is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. He’s an all-around good little dog. Also for your consideration, a beautiful male Dachshund, who excels at making Chihuahuas look tall. This short-stack is a young dog — about 3 years old, and gets along great with other dogs. He seems interested in being friends with cats, too. He’s very energetic and happy — he loves everyone — and adores going out on walks. These two have become great friends, but will be happy to part ways if it means a chance at a new life. Know of someone in Denver who may be interested? These fellows can be transported up there on Monday. Please consider bringing one of these nice shorties to your abode so they will finally get to experience the joy of a forever home. Also available is last week’s Pet of the Week, the kitty Smoky, as well as many kittens and other friendly adult cats that are down on their luck, but who still love humans. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be closed this Friday. Right now, the shelter desperately needs Purina or Iams kitten food, scented bleach, and Purina or Pedigree dog food. Ask how you can be a shelter volunteer even for just one hour a week. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com (enter 81321 zip code) or www. cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
